What can I expect at my first appointment with Schofield Dental?
At Schofield Dental, your first visit is designed to be calm, personal, and thorough. We take time to understand your health history, listen to your concerns, and introduce you to your dentist and our welcoming team — all in a relaxed, unrushed setting.
Once you're checked in, you'll settle into a comfortable treatment room where we’ll review your medical and dental background, discuss your goals, and take digital X-rays for a complete view of your oral health. We’ll walk you through your exam and any recommended treatments, ensuring you feel informed and confident every step of the way.
Your dental team will assess your gum health and determine what type of dental cleaning is needed. If a regular cleaning is indicated, it will typically be completed the same day as your exam. If periodontal treatment or other type of cleaning is indicated, these will be scheduled for future appointments as needed. You’ll also receive personalized hygiene tips and a complimentary care kit to support your smile at home.
As a fully digital office, we value your time without compromising the personal touch. If you haven’t completed your forms ahead of time, please arrive 15 minutes early so we can focus on what matters most: providing exceptional care tailored to you.
We look forward to welcoming you — and helping you achieve a healthy, confident smile with comfort and clarity.

If I have high dental anxiety or fear, what options do I have?
First off, you are not alone! Dental anxiety is a common condition characterized by fear, apprehension, or stress associated with dental settings or procedures, affecting between 50% to 80% of U.S. adults. At Schofield Dental, we are dedicated to providing a calm and personalized experience and we are here to help. We offer a variety of tools including:
- a. Distraction: We can offer music and/or movies during your dental visit or feel free to bring your own headphones and music.
- b. Communication: We can establish a signal with the dentist and hygienist to pause treatment if you need a break or if anything is uncomfortable.
- c. Medical interventions: We can offer nitrous oxide (or "happy gas") and/or oral sedative medications, which can help ease anxiety.
- d. Comfort Items: We can provide blankets and neck pillows to help you feel comfortable and at ease.

Do we see dental emergencies?
Yes, we are here to help you! When your dental health is at risk, we will do everything we can to make sure you are treated as soon as possible. While dental emergencies are rare, they can happen, and it's important to know how to take care of your teeth. If you call during office hours, we can offer you a same- or next-day appointment. If after hours, our outbound message provides clear directions on how to initiate emergency care.
